NYTimes: It’s Time to Break Up Facebook

Posted on May 9, 2019May 15, 2019 by Patrick J

It’s Time to Break Up Facebook https://www.nytimes.com/2019/05/09/opinion/sunday/chris-hughes-facebook-zuckerberg.html

This is a fascinating account of the growth of the social network monopoly. With their product being free, it is difficult to apply the old standards of price manipulation or gouging; however, the cost to our decision rights and access to knowledge and communication is immense.

The real question is: How can government, which historically lags behind progress, effectively regulate an industry that moves at such a rapid pace?

My account is currently deactivated, so my ability to share this article is drastically hindered.

It’s a long read, but well worth your time.

I will be very surprised if it ever happens.

It doesn’t advocate destroying Facebook, just breaking it up.
